I had some comments about the preamp. Originally when i was testing only the preamp, i had both inputs reversed. The ground and center were reversed. Also 1 output was reversed. I only noticed the issue when i was putting the preamp and amp in the case. I fixed it and put it all together and everything is fine. I should have mentioned that later in the video. Cheers!
As far as I know every amplifier I’ve ever dealt with had the hookups on the back of the amplifier the speaker hookups the inputs were all on the back of the amplifier to make it look better and for everything out of the way why did you not put all that stuff on the back of the amplifier instead of putting it on the front I would have given you a lot more room on the front of the amplifier you had more than enough room in that box to place the speaker outputs and the inputs on the back of the amplifier yes I do not understand for Aesthetics it looks a lot better to have all that on the back this way you have room for improvement on the front like adding tone controls like bass and treble and you have one volume control with your balance I’m not saying I’m an expert but I’ve built quite a few and repaired quite a few amplifiers in my time as well as a receiver or two I like to work on Carver mostly I like them because they’re a challenge and I have a very good understanding of the circuitry and all that took me was sitting down and reading a couple of the books on the subject another favorite amp of mine to work on his ADM I also like to work on Fisher the Old Tube receivers and amplifiers so I’ve been around for quite a while
bad, front speaker out, spiled asthetics
Back in the 70s I built a bass guitar amplifier for the first time. The amplifier worked well, but at first there was a humming sound at the frequency of the mains voltage. When I turned off the voltage switch, the humming stopped immediately. That’s when I learned that there should be about 10nF across the rectifier diodes. And the device worked very well then
another great video….nice job….glad you shared….. i use CorelDraw10 for making my drawings to scale
